Bath, England
Electric Bear is Bath's very own craft brewery, and we have their cans available to buy in our shop and on our website all year round. The name of the brewery comes from the old Bear Brewery that used to be in Bear Flats (an area of Bath) & Electric as this is what they use to power their kettle (the vessel used to boil the wort during brewing).
The original Bear Brewery is now gone – a victim of a WWII bombing raid in April 1942.
We always have at least one of their beers available on tap in our bar.

A few months ago, Electric Bear ventured back into collaborating with breweries again.
First they were invited to Reading, Phantom Brewing, where they helped brew a West Coast IPA.
Then the boys from Phantom came to Bath, and together they brewed an East Coast IPA, because Reading is East right?
In both beers they used the same hops and malts, changing the water profile, and when the hops were added to the beer.
This East Coast IPA, "Where is My Compass At?", is a 7.2% luxurious IPA packed full of juicy American hops, boasting flavours of Grapefruit, Oranges, Mangos and Berries.

This massive imperial stout was a labour of love and worth all the hard work. Rather than the usual ‘brewday’ this brew was a 2 day long ‘brewdays’ that involved mashing in and digging out several times to achieve a very small amount of wort that was very high in fermentable sugars.
Electric Bear then fermented it using 2 different yeast strains to produce this 13% imperial stout that has finally been heavily dosed with Madagascan vanilla pods.
The result is a delicious, sweet and roasty, big boozy bad boy of a stout.

There is some interesting chemistry behing Another Spanner in the Works.
It was co-fermented with a strain of Torulaspora delbrueckii supplied to Electric Bear by Lallemand Brewing.
What this means is the beer will have subtle hints of spice and citrus which are melded with floral, piney and tropical fruit notes from a large dose of dry hopping!
