The Tipsy-Train Beer Blog with Schlenkerla's Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier: Marzen

Schlenkerla - Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier: Marzen

Schlenkerla - Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier: Marzen

Bit of a stressful day in me ol'noggin today, but work was good and managed to do a bit of marketing which I always love. This evenings choice was a Jack one, with the intriguing possibilities of smoky bacon and charcoal laying on my tastebuds!. Very old school brown bottle with a parchment effect label showing the beer details and a nice regal wax stamp to finish it off. So, I popped the cap off and boy was met with something I hadn't smelt in a beer before! It was like entering a small meat smoking-house where pig and malt were the only things on the racks. The following swig just carried on the experience as I could almost chew that smokey taste that was caking my tongue. I was pleasantly surprised that the malty hit wasn't as strong and overpowering as I'd feared, so I still got beautifully deep and richly dark tones with each tip of the bottle.

Can't lie to you and say that I'd soon have this beer again, but I'm so glad that Jack got me to have it this once. The full smokey flavours that you can almost bite into is just a great experience and I'd recommend anyone to try it just once and give your tastebuds a fantastic workout.

Happy Tuesday and Cheers everyone!

Han
