Northern Monk - Patrons Project 15.04 // Lucy Ketchin // Take Care Of Business // Lefthanded Giant Brewing // Sour Cherry IPA
Bit of stress at home didn't help today, but a good day at work went towards making up for things, and a James recommendation of a drink I usually stay away from meant I had an intriguing train ride home.
The can has a vivid baby pink background with a very colourfully clothed woman carrying the wears of her daily life...very different and eye catching. This quirky beer design is by Lucy Ketchin, a illustrator and textile artist, who is working in partnership to produce this special edition beer.
First smell up the ol'snout is sweet, sweet cherry with a smooth almost light pastry/biscuity scent. Very strange it has to be said, but I was just really glad that my usually dislike of cherry hadn't yet been realised! The following taste of trepidation was just as odd, but pleasantly odd I I admit. That smooth smell from earlier combined with the cherry had turned into a delicious liquified bakewell tart, oozing with each stage of flavours. From pastry to almonds to frangipane and to jam...this is just a stunning work of food artistry in a 6.5% ABV beer form.
Grab this miracle beer while you can.
As always, I hope you enjoyed my personal review, but why not come into Beercraft of Bath and try it for yourself!...
