Masquerade Brewing - Patriot

Masquerade Brewing - Patriot

Still a bit tired from @abbfest on Saturday, but a solid day at work was pretty enjoyable. This was the first time it had been cold and rainy in the evening, so I wasn't sure which beer to go for, however James came through with Patriot by Masquerade Brewing.

Girlfriend met me on the train and it was proceeded by a very smooth can opening for once! The can is very eye catching indeed with a cartoon picture of Donald Trump wearing a masquerade mask on a burnt red background, and I have to say good on them for the design, absolute belter and definite conversation starter.

Really strong pineapple tropical smell when opened, with some hoppiness which went straight up the nose. The first taste delivers such strong citrusy flavours with those pine sections just dotted here and there in between. The hops are firm, but not overpowering and complimented with a ever so slight bitterness following at the finish. This is a supremely balanced New England IPA and I'd urge anyone to try this at there next opportunity.

Fantastic drink to the finish the day and I hope you had a cracker as well.

Cheers!

Definitely got that classic pilsner taste to it with the hoppy feel, then an actual nice light and clean followup that carries through each sip. No big memorable flavours that stay on the tongue, but a decent enough drink to knock back.

First smell is just thick melted chocolate flowing out before that bourbon kick makes an appearance. My following excited swig didn't leave me disappointed as those smells were combined perfectly in my mouth before a light coffee edge showed up.

The following swig had a definite rush of those flavours and hops, but not as powerful as I'd expected, in fact quite a smooth delivery. As I went along there was definitely those vic secret and amarillo hops there, but more of constant buzz in the background.
